We are now looking for a Programmatic Sales Manager. The Programmatic Sales Manager is a revenue driving position, working closely with programmatic exchanges, advertising agencies, and the internal Guardian team.

Hybrid/Remote/In-Person: Hybrid (2 days in office)

About the role

This role is fundamental in shaping the programmatic offering, executing the Go-to-Market strategy, and pinpointing avenues for expansion. Responsibilities include driving programmatic revenue by identifying and securing new sales opportunities, helping to optimize existing programmatic deals, establishing new customer relationships, and fostering strong relationships with existing clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive programmatic advertising revenue growth in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key advertisers, agencies, and trading desks to promote our programmatic advertising offerings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, editorial, and ad operations to develop customized programmatic advertising solutions for clients.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies in programmatic advertising to inform strategy and optimize performance.
  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions with programmatic advertising partners, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for The Guardian US.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on programmatic advertising revenue, performance, and market trends to senior management.
  • Ensure quarterly programmatic sales goals are achieved

About you

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years minimum of programmatic sales experience, preferably with a publisher.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Deep understanding of programmatic advertising ecosystem, technologies, and platforms (e.g., DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, ad exchanges).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with major programmatic advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ad Manager, DV360, The Trade Desk) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, agencies, and industry partners.

  • Salary: $115,000 - $130,000 per year with a commercial incentive
