We're looking for an executive producer, video news features to lead and manage a team of producers to develop, craft and deliver award-winning and impactful news video content at the Guardian.

You'll be responsible for a team of producers, delivering our agenda setting original news video content for the Guardian website and the Guardian YouTube channel (2.3m subscribers, 700+ million views).

This is initially a 9-month FTC or internal staff secondment. We are looking for someone who is available to start as soon as possible, though we will consider notice periods.

About the role

  • Taking the editorial lead and overall responsibility for developing and producing video news features.
  • Leading, managing and supporting a team of video producers
  • Managing an annual budget and regularly updating the head of video on spending
  • Leading on risk assessments for shoots with staff and freelancers
  • Building and maintaining close relationship with the Guardian newsroom
  • Representing video team in meetings with senior editors where required, and supporting the Head of Video
  • Understanding the tone and editorial direction of the Guardian and how it relates to Guardian video
  • Understanding of the main legal and ethical issues surrounding video production
  • Being on call for occasional weekends covering Reactive/Breaking news
  • Providing guidance for other video teams from Social to Documentaries

About you

  • Strong news sense
  • Proven ability to collaboratively develop compelling video content
  • Experience of commissioning and execing videos in a news environment
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, plus experience juggling multiple deadlines
  • Understanding of the editorial aims and values of Guardian News & Media
  • An understanding of the evolving ways people consume news video on social media
  • Good editorial judgment, writing ability and production skills
  • Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
