We are now looking for a Social Producer (9 month FTC) to create and repurpose video, photo, text and graphics content for the Guardian across social media, primarily focusing on TikTok and Instagram.
Primarily focusing on TikTok and Instagram - from the Lionesses at the Euros to hard hitting explainers - you'll play an instrumental role in bringing our journalism to new audiences off-platform in creative and engaging ways. Examples of the team's work can be found here, here & here.
About the Role
- As directed by the social platforms editor, create written and visual content for our social platforms as required (primarily Instagram and Tiktok) with the aim of engaging and informing a global audience
- Contribute towards the planning, production, publishing and archiving of content across social channels
- Devise best practice, visual style, and tone of voice for social promotion, posts and videos
- Ensure social posts adhere to the Guardian's design and work within templates for easy execution across social platforms, including the various dimensions for each format
- Monitor, analyse and measure social engagement as required, across all channels, and optimise content (title, images, graphics, and other metrics) in line with performance
- Keep up to date with the latest social media developments, especially best practice off-platform
- Source and curate content with creation of user-generated content
About You
- Strong writing skills with a flair for summarising long, complex information into engaging and concise copy
- Understanding of how to make text, photos, graphics and video work together visually on social media
- Experience working with major social media platforms, underpinned by a nuanced understanding of each platform's unique ecosystem, and how to optimise content performance for each platform
- Understanding of the specific needs of social media audiences
- Familiarity with content management systems and analytics of all major social media platforms
- Experience of producing and editing videos for social media from start to finish using Adobe Premiere.
- Experience working in a newsroom
- Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
